Each week, the University of South Carolina Aiken will produce weekly notes. This week, the University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team plays at Augusta on Friday and Saturday.
Five-Set Thriller
USC Aiken picked up its first league win of the season on Saturday with a five-set thriller against Lander. The Pacers won every other set, taking the first, third and fifth frames. The squad played slightly shorthanded in the match but still came away victoriously with a solid all-around effort by the squad.
Cat Can Do It All
Cat Bodick saw plenty of playing time in the win over Lander. The Mooresville, N.C., native posted a season-high five kills in the victory. Additionally, she was in on five blocks, including a solo stop to make it 14-8 in the fifth frame. Overall, Bodick had a tremendous match for the Pacers.
Sommer Slam
Newcomer
Anna Sommer recorded double-digit kills for the third time of the season in the victory over Lander. She hit .385 with 11 kills against just one error. Additionally, Sommer was in on seven blocks in the victory.
Movin' On Up
Kari Mercer continues to move up the all-time digs list at USC Aiken. With a 31-dig performance in the win over Lander, Mercer moved past former USC Aiken great
Alie Smith. She now has 1,528 digs in her career, which is third on the rally-scoring list behind just Rebecca Martinez and Samantha Lukralle.
Inside The Numbers
This week, the University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team plays at Augusta on Friday, Sept. 23 and on Saturday, Sept. 24. Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 207-131 (61.2 percent) in Friday matches and 245-147 (62.5 percent) in Saturday contests. During the same time, the team is 4-6 on Sept. 23 and 5-6 on Sept. 24.
Against The Opponent
This week, the University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team plays at Augusta on Friday, Sept. 23 and on Saturday, Sept. 24. The team leads the all-time series against the Jaguars 49-27.
