EATONTON, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team wrapped up the Bobcat Invitational with a ninth-place finish.
The tournament, which was hosted by Georgia College, was played on Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee. It was a par-70, 6,730-yard course.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team shot 24-over par, 864, for the tournament. The team's best round was the two-over par, 282, second round. The squad posted a six-over par, 286, over the final 18 holes of competition.
Leonardo Bono was the team's top finisher. He tied for 16
th. Bono's best round came on the final round of play – as he shot an even-par, 70. For the tournament, Bono shot four-over par, 214.
Oscar Abrahamsson and
Leo Johansson were a stroke behind Bono. Both shot five-over par, 215. Abrahamsson's second-round two-under par, 68, marked the team's best round of the tournament. Johansson shot one-over par, 71, over the final 36 holes of play.
Barry won the event with a three-over par, 843. Lander was second (+9, 489) while Florida Southern took third (+11, 851). West Florida and Clayton State tied for fourth. Georgia Southwestern, North Georgia and Lincoln Memorial were sixth through eighth, respectively, in the 15-team field.
The Pacers return to action next week at the Tennessee River Rumble in Lenoir City, Tenn. The event is hosted by Lincoln Memorial.
