KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The No. 10 University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in fifth place after the first 36 holes of competition at the Kiawah Island Invitational.
Erskine leads the field at 18-under par, 558. Lee is one stroke back while West Georgia rounds out the podium currently at 16-under par, 560. Belmont Abbey sits in fourth place after shooting 31-under par, 562. The Pacers are a stroke behind the Crusaders after tallying scores of 290-273 for 13-under par, 563.
The second-round 273 by USC Aiken marked the lowest round by any team for the day, besting the Flying Fleet's opening-round 274.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team was led by
Leo Johansson's five-under par, 139. After opening with a 72, he shot a second-round 67.
Teammate
Björn Rosengren is a stroke behind Johansson for 11
th place. Rosengren shot an even-par 72 before carding a second-round 68 to be at four-under par, 140.
Leonardo Bono posted a one-under par, 143. He is tied for 29
th at the event. Bono shot a low round of 66 during the second round of action.
Newcomer
Charlie Denvir registered an even-par, 144. He shot 72 in each of the two rounds of play.
The teams return to action tomorrow for the final 18 holes of competition starting at 8:30 a.m.
