Johansson Is No. 1 In Division II Golfstat Rankings; Pacers Are Second Nationally

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf standout Leo Johansson is the top-ranked student-athlete in Division II, which was announced on Golfstat.com Wednesday. 

The Pacers moved up from No. 3 to No. 2 this week. The squad rattled off a fourth-place finish at the highly competitive Southern Tide Invitational on Tuesday. Head coach Michael Carlisle's team tied for second at the Kiawah Island Invitational, third at the Camden Collegiate and second at the Queens Invitational.

Barry is currently No. 1 in the national rankings. Oklahoma Christian, Arkansas Tech and Lee round out the top five. Lee, Carson-Newman, Lincoln Memorial, Limestone, North Georgia and West Georgia complete the top-10 rankings.

Johansson is coming off a second-place effort at the Southern Tide Invitational. The two-time PBC Player of the Week this year has three second-place efforts and a 12th-place finish to his credit. In addition to the Southern Tide Invitational, Johansson was second at the Camden Collegiate and the Queens Fall Invitational. He has a 69.25 stroke average through 12 rounds of action this season. 

Björn Rosengren is No. 11 in the national rankings. Rosengren has three top-10 finishes on the season and has placed in the top 20 at all four tournaments. He was ninth at the Kiawah Island Invitational, 15th at the Camden Collegiate, seventh at the Queens Fall Invitational and 10th at the Southern Tide Intercollegiate. Rosengren currently has a 70.33 stroke average.     

Oscar Abrahamsson is No. 48 in the latest rankings while Leonardo Bono is No. 54. Abrahamsson sports a 72.16 stroke average while Bono carries a 71.66 average.

USC Aiken is set to complete the fall season at the Daniel Island Invitational Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
