MILTON, Ga. – The nationally-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in second place at the Southern Tide Intercollegiate, which is hosted by Limestone.
On the par-72, 6,966-yard course at the Atlanta National Golf Club, the Pacers fired a second-round seven-under par, 281, to surge into second place with 18 holes remaining. Head coach
Michael Carlisle's squad shot one-over par, 289, for the first round.
The Pacers trail Carson-Newman by four strokes. USC Aiken shot six-under par, 570, for the first two rounds of play. The Eagles stand in first at 10-under par, 566.
Carlisle's team was led by
Leo Johansson. He opened with a three-under par, 69, before shooting five-under par, 67, during the second round. Johansson stands in second place at eight-under par, 136.
Björn Rosengren posted a two-under par, 142, through two rounds of action. He is tied for 14
th.
Oscar Abrahamsson opened with a five-over par, 77, but shot two-under par, 70, during the second round of competition. His three-over par, 147, has him in 37
th place.
Leonardo Bono and
Karl Frisk are just behind Abrahamsson. Bono carded a four-over par, 148, while Frisk shot five-over par, 149.
