KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The No. 8 University of South Carolina Aiken golf team finished second at the Queens Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
Carson-Newman edged the Pacers by a mere stroke. The Eagles finished 25-under par, 827, while USC Aiken was 24-under par, 828. The Eagles shot eight-under par over the final 18 holes of play.
Lincoln Memorial rounded out the medal stand (23-under par, 829). North Georgia (14-under par, 838) and Queens (11-under par, 841) completed the top five.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team was led by
Leo Johansson's second-place finish of 10-under par, 203. He led the way after the first two rounds but was second by a stroke to the Railspltiters' Harry Lord (11-under par, 202).
Björn Rosengren fired a final-round 69 en route to his eight-under par, 205. He finished in a tie for seventh place.
Leonardo Bono shot even par over the final round and finished three-under par, 210. He tied for 22
nd with
Oscar Abrahamsson. Competing in his first tournament, Abrahamsson completed the final round at two-under par, 69. He shot par or better in all three rounds.
Charlie Denvir shot eight-over par, 221.
The Pacers return to action Oct. 25-26 at the Southern Tide Invitational, which will be held in Atlanta, Ga.
