KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The No. 8 University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in first place after the opening day of the Queens Invitational.
USC Aiken is tied with Lincoln Memorial for the lead. Both schools shot 20-under par, 548. The Pacers shot 273-275 while the Railsplitters accounted for scores of 282-266.
Carson-Newman, Queens and Newberry round out the top five teams in the 18-team field.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team was led by
Leo Johansson's 10-under par, 132. He opened with a seven-under par, 64, before posting a three-under par, 68, over the second 18 holes of action. Johansson holds a one-stroke lead over Carson-Newman's Alex Hodge and Wingate's Colin Dutton.
Björn Rosengren stands in eighth place after carding rounds of 69-67. He shot six-under par, 136.
Leonardo Bono tallied a three-under par, 139. He notched scores of 69-70 and is in 21
st place.
Oscar Abrahamsson recorded scores of 71-70 through his first two rounds of action. He is 30
th after garnering a score of one-under par.
