Women's Basketball | January 07, 2021

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken, in conjunction with head women's basketball coach Mark Miller, is excited to announce the addition of two student-athletes for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

McKenzie Lott and Makenzie Smith will continue their athletic and academic careers at USC Aiken beginning in the fall of 2021.

Lott is a 5-3 guard from Chapin, S.C. The Chapin H.S. product picked up all-region 5A honors and Lexington County all-region accolades as a junior. She averaged 10.6 points a game her junior campaign and was a SC Hoops Jr. Showcase participant. Lott was ranked as the 24th top South Carolina player by A1 Hoops. She is a member of the National Honor Society and she played AAU for the Palmetto 76ers. A legacy of USC Aiken, Lott's father Leon played baseball at USC Aiken.

"McKenzie is a versatile guard who knows how the game should be played," Miller said. "She can do a little bit of everything on the offensive end of the floor. McKenzie is another player who will work hard and bring enthusiasm to our team."

Smith is a 6-0 forward from Amsterdam, N.Y. The Broadalbin Perth H.S. attendee led her team in scoring as a freshman and sophomore. She picked up Rookie of the Year honors. Smith garnered second-team all-area accolades as a freshman and first-team honors as a sophomore. During her sophomore season, Smith averaged 16 points and 10.2 rebounds a night. That season, she poured in a career-high 34 points in a win over Schuylerville, outscoring the entire team (34-27). She is a scholar-athlete award winner.

"Makenzie is a post player who can play both positions and has the ability to play inside and out," Miller stated. "Her strength and toughness will help continue to move our women's basketball program forward."
