AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 4/6 University of South Carolina Aiken golf team took eighth at the 23
rd Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team shot 36-over par, 876, for the event. The squad shot scores of 302-290-284 on the par-70, 6,617-yard course. The Pacers were the lone Division II team in the field.
Clemson won the event after shooting 27-under par, 813. Virginia (-11, 829) and Furman (+12, 852) rounded out the podium. The Tigers established a tournament record by shooting 267 in the opening round. The 813 also tied the lowest mark in tournament history.
Dan Sheehan tied for 17
th. He registered a score of five-over par, 215. Sheehan shot 76-70-69 over the 54-hole event.
Björn Rosengren tied for 33
rd after posting a three-round score of 11-over par, 221. He shot a team-best two-under par, 68, over the final 18 holes of competition.
The Pacers return to action March 16-17 at the Bobcat Invitational, which will take place in Eatonton, Ga.
