Knocking Off The Nighthawks

Head coach Mark Miller's team was outstanding in the win over No. 11 North Georgia. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak against the Nighthawks. It marked the first win over a ranked team by the program since a 61-59 win at No. 25 Benedict on Nov. 14, 2017.

Strong Defense

USC Aiken played extremely well in the win over the nationally-ranked foe, especially from the floor. The strong defense by the Pacers limited the Nighthawks to a mere 18 points combined over the second and third quarters.

Averaging One A Quarter

The stingy defense provided by USC Aiken limited No. 11 North Georgia to a mere 13 field goals in the game. However, nine of the 13 were from the three-point stripe, meaning USC Aiken allowed only four two-point field goals in the contest.

In the Standings

After the stellar win over No. 11 North Georgia, USC Aiken is in fourth place in the PBC regular-season standings. The squad does not have the tiebreaker with Clayton State, but should the Pacers defeat the Lakers the next time they square off, the team would hold the tiebreaker by beating the Nighthawks, who are currently second in the standings.

Inside The Numbers

This week, USC Aiken plays at Francis Marion on Wednesday, Feb. 5 and at Georgia Southwestern on Saturday, Feb. 8. Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 121-114 (51.5 percent) in Wednesday games and 174-168 (50.8 percent) in Saturday contests. During the same time, the program is 4-3 on Feb. 5 and 3-5 on Feb. 8. 

Against The Opponents

This week, USC Aiken plays at Francis Marion on Wednesday, Feb. 5 and at Georgia Southwestern on Saturday, Feb. 8. The Pacers trail the all-time series to the Patriots 52-31. The squad holds a 15-3 edge in the all-time series against the Lady Hurricanes.
