CAMDEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in first place after two rounds of competition at the season-opening Camden Collegiate thanks in part to
Björn Rosengren's second-round 63.
The 63 marks the lowest score in USC Aiken golf history. It also tied the all-time PBC lowest score, which was set in 1994 by UNC Pembroke's Eric Wyatt. The 63 was tied by Nick Cowper (AASU, 2002), Davis Lee (Lander, 2010), and Jonathan McCurry (UNC Pembroke, 2012).
The Pacers shot four-over par, 564, for two rounds of play. The squad opened the year by posting a four-over par, 284, before notching an even-par, 280, on the second round of the tournament.
Lee and Lander are tied for second. Both shot 17-over par, 577. Valdosta State is fourth (+18, 578) while Young Harris (+20, 580) is fifth. PBC schools Flagler and North Georgia are seventh and eighth, respectively.
Rosengren is in first place while
Leo Johansson is in second place.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team was led by Rosengren's five-under par, 135. Rosengren shot an opening-round 72 before firing a tournament-best seven-under par, 63, over the final 18 holes of competition to lead the entire field.
Johansson's opening-round four-under par, 66, was the best score of the first round. He shot one-over par, 71, for a two-round three-under par, 137. Johansson sits in second place in the field.
George Eubank notched a score of five-over par, 145. He posted a three-over par, 73, before tallying a second-round, two-over par. Eubank is in 22nd place.
Nicholas Poole shot nine-over par, 149, while
Thomas Trowbridge was one shot behind Poole at 10-over par, 150.
