DANIELS, W. Va. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is tied for 14
th place after the first day of competition at the NCAA Division II National Championship.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team opened the tournament shooting 11-over par, 299, for the first 18 holes of competition. The team is tied with Florida Southern.
Cal State Monterey Bay leads the field after shooting one-under par, 287. Arkansas Tech and Lincoln Memorial are tied for second after shooting even-par, 288.
Senior
August Lindvall was the top competitor for the Pacers. He shot one-over par, 73. Starting on the back nine, Lindvall bogeyed the 10
th and 16
th holes, but registered a birdie on No. 13. He shot even par the rest of the way for his 73 and is tied for 25th.
Dan Sheehan and
Thomas Trowbridge each shot three-over par, 75. The duo is tied for 52
nd.
George Eubank was a stroke behind Eubank and Trowbridge and is tied for 62
nd.
After three rounds, the top eight teams advance to match play. Currently, USC Aiken is five strokes back of eighth place.
