DANIELS, W. Va. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is tied for 14^th place after the first day of competition at the NCAA Division II National Championship.

Head coach Michael Carlisle's team opened the tournament shooting 11-over par, 299, for the first 18 holes of competition. The team is tied with Florida Southern.

Cal State Monterey Bay leads the field after shooting one-under par, 287. Arkansas Tech and Lincoln Memorial are tied for second after shooting even-par, 288.

Senior August Lindvall was the top competitor for the Pacers. He shot one-over par, 73. Starting on the back nine, Lindvall bogeyed the 10^th and 16^th holes, but registered a birdie on No. 13. He shot even par the rest of the way for his 73 and is tied for 25th.

Dan Sheehan and Thomas Trowbridge each shot three-over par, 75. The duo is tied for 52^nd.

George Eubank was a stroke behind Eubank and Trowbridge and is tied for 62^nd.

After three rounds, the top eight teams advance to match play. Currently, USC Aiken is five strokes back of eighth place.
