Leaving Her MarkÂ
Christine Carroll has been solid all season long – and continued to be outstanding last weekend. She posted match-high honors of 20 and 16 kills, respectively, in the wins over Francis Marion and UNC Pembroke. Against the Patriots, Carroll registered her 1,000
th career kill. She's the PBC active career leader for kills.
Bouncing Back
USC Aiken fell behind Francis Marion 1-0 and 2-1 before bouncing back to take the final two frames by scores of 25-11 and 15-9, respectively. The Pacers held the Patriots to hitting percentages of .000 and .190 over the final two sets while hitting .289 and .429 during the same time.
Clean Sweep
Head coach
Glenn Cox's team had a solid outing on Saturday against UNC Pembroke. The Pacers raced past the Braves by a 3-0 score. Set scores were 25-14, 25-11 and 25-11, respectively.
Bell Sounds Loudly
In the victory over Francis Marion,
Alli Bell registered a career-best 63 assists in the five-set victory. It marked the second consecutive contest that Bell had dished out a career high for assists after posting 62 at Lander the week before.
Closing In
Rebecca Martinez is closing in on becoming the PBC all-time career digs leader. She currently has 2,430 digs, which is just 74 off the all-time PBC mark.
Closing In Part II
Junior
Alie Smith is closing in on her 1,000
th career kill and 1,000
th career dig. She currently has 972 kills and 950 career digs. Should she reach 1,000 in each category, Smith would become just the fifth student-athlete in the program's history to do so.
Schad Is Smooth
Rookie
Abbey Schad had a pair of solid matches last weekend. She registered nine kills while hitting .364 in the win over Francis Marion before hitting .308 with six kills in the sweep of UNC Pembroke.
Multi-Dimensional
Defensive specialist
Kari Mercer had a solid outing against FMU. She tied her career high with 18 digs against the Patriots. However, she set a career high with two kills from the back row.
Inside The Numbers
This week, USC Aiken hosts Lander on Tuesday, Nov. 5 before playing at Flagler on Friday, Nov. 8. Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 60-27 (69.0 percent) in Tuesday contests and 191-122 (61.0 percent) in Friday affairs. During the same time, the squad is 5-8 on Nov. 5 and 3-4 on Nov. 8.
