Throughout the 2018-19 season, the USC Aiken Athletic Communications office will provide weekly notes, giving all of Pacer Nation an in-depth look at the team.
Dominant Defense
After allowing the visitors to tally 51 points through three frames, head coach
Mark Miller's defense shut down the opposition in the final 10 minutes of work. The Pacers allowed Georgia College to score just eight points in the final quarter. More impressive, though, are the numbers. Over the final 10 minutes, the Bobcats did not have a point off a Pacer turnover, had zero second-chance points, recorded zero bench points, did not have a fast break point and scored just four of the eight points in the paint.
Hustling
Redshirt-senior
Sade Johnson had an outstanding defensive game and was exceptional on the glass in the win over the Bobcats. She posted a team-best two steals while also snagging a season-high 11 rebounds. On multiple plays she covered an abundance of ground to collect the board or intercept a pass.
Block Party
Redshirt-sophomore
Kwajelin Farrar had a block party of sorts in the come-from-behind win over Georgia College. Collectively, the Pacers swatted away six shots, but Farrar had three of them in the 59-54 win. It's also the most blocks she's had in a game this season.
Milestone Win
The victory over Georgia Southwestern was important on several levels. In addition to the team moving to 2-0 in league play, head coach
Mark Miller picked up his 250
th career victory.
Two Of The Best In History
USC Aiken fans saw a bit of history on a couple of occasions in the win over Georgia Southwestern. The nine points allowed in the first quarter marked the fifth fewest an opposing team has scored in the first quarter in USC Aiken's history. In the fourth quarter,
Kwajelin Farrar tied the school record for points in a quarter with 15. She also snagged eight rebounds in the quarter despite only playing a handful of minutes.
A Point Every Other Minute
Rookie
Grace Crawford played 24 minutes in the victory over the Hurricanes. She was productive throughout – and scored 12 points, accounting for a point every-other-minute while she was in.
Nearly A Double-Double In A Quarter
Kwajelin Farrar scored a career-high 32 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the victory over Georgia Southwestern. In the fourth quarter alone, she accounted for 15 points and eight boards. Farrar's 17
thcareer double-double is the most by any Pacer since the start of the 2000-01 season.
Star Shines Bright
Senior
Star Toomey had a solid performance for the Pacers in the win over the Hurricanes. She played 15 minutes and was efficient throughout. Toomey scored four points, swatted a game-high three shots and was outstanding on the glass, pulling down nine rebounds.
