Pacers Conclude Year by Finishing 20th at NCAA Division II Southeast Regional

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Keely Gillespie finished in 44th individually to lead the USC Aiken Cross Country team to a 20th place finish at the 6K NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at McAlpine Park.

Gillespie's (North Augusta, S.C./North Augusta) time of 24:21.4 in the Southeast Regional is the second-best 6K time in school history behind teammate Nicole Maitland's time of 24:20 at the 2009 PBC Cross Country Championship.

A three-time All-PBC runner, Maitland concluded her illustrious career at USC Aiken on Saturday by finishing 73rd. Maitland (Chapin, S.C./Chapin) recorded a time of 25:13.8. The time is in the top five in school history in 6K meets.

The Pacers acquired an average time of 26:13.2 to finish 20th as a team. Queens won its first regional championship with a team time average of 22:10.8. King finished second with a team average of 23:10.2.

Both Queens and King advance to the 2010 Division II Cross Country Championships, which will be held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Lenoir-Rhyne's Kate Griewisch finished first individually to obtain top honors for the second consecutive season. Griewisch finished with a time of 20:55.6.
