Each week of the 2016 USC Aiken softball season, the sports information office will produce game notes.
Crossing Home At The Right Time
Rookie Leah Boghosian leads USC Aiken by scoring four of the team's nine game-winning runs. In the doubleheader sweep at Coker, Boghosian was in the right place at the right time, scoring both of the team's winning runs.
The Price Is Right
Rookie Hannah Price registered a pair of multi-hit performances at Coker and her hits were extremely timely. She registered back-to-back game-winning hits that drove in Leah Boghosian in each contest, helping the Pacers improve to 6-0 at that point.
Montei The Masher
Senior Sarah Montei is approaching the top-10 lists in just about every offensive category. Against Coker, she moved a little closer to the top-10 for a career for home runs with a 240-foot shot over the left field wall.
Morgan's Moving Up
Senior Taylor Morgan continues to impress this season, moving to 4-0 with a pair of wins last week. Heading into a busy week, Morgan is tied for sixth with 34 career wins, is second in strikeouts (521), seventh in ERA (2.40), second in lowest opponent batting average, third in strikeouts per seven innings, fifth in innings pitched (489), sixth in appearances (83), starts (69) and shutouts (11) and is tied for second in saves (3).
Chubb Likes The Long Ball
Senior Samantha Chubb had been hitting the ball well all season long but it was not until the Converse doubleheader did the standout do some major damage. Chubb smashed a solo homer, which turned out to be the game-winning run, in the first inning of the 2-0 win over Converse. The round-tripper was her 19th at USC Aiken.
700
Head coach Jerry Snyder's team started out strong this campaign and helped him reach another milestone. Sunday's 2-0 win over Converse marked his 700th career victory.
Price(line) Negotiator
Rookie Hannah Price had her second career start in the circle on Sunday and came through in fine fashion. She negotiated her way through Converse's line-up with little difficulty. Price threw a complete-game shutout, striking out seven while allowing just three hits and three walks to pick up her first career victory.
Dorgan's Big Day
Sophomore Lyndie Dorgan recorded her first career start in the circle against Converse and she performed extremely well. After working her way out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning, she went on to throw a complete game shutout. Dorgan gave up five three hits while striking out five and did not walk a batter in the 8-0 win.
Against The Opponents
USC Aiken has squared off against Pfeiffer, Francis Marion and Mount Olive on numerous occasions in the program's history. The Pacers are 15-2 in the series against Pfeiffer. FMU holds a 37-21 advantage in the series but the Pacers own a 5-1 record against Mount Olive.
