At the Wexford Invitational, head coach
Michael Carlisle's golf team finished third, but managed to turn a lot of heads with an individual performance of
Johnson Holliday.
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The No. 8 University of South Carolina Aiken golf team finished third at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, which wrapped up play Tuesday afternoon.
The Pacers were the lone Division II team in the field that consisted of 17 teams and 90 student-athletes.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team registered a third-round tally of one-over par, 289, for third place. For the tournament, the team finished with a three-round total of 865, one-over par.
Redshirt-sophomore
Johnson Holliday tied for the tournament low by firing a six-under par, 66, Tuesday afternoon. It was the lowest round of his collegiate career and was the second-best round in the PBC this season.
Holliday took home the silver medal with an 11-under par, 205 for the tournament. He carded an opening-round 69 before tallying a two-under par, 70, for the second round.
Hubert Tisserand tied for 17
th place after registering back-to-back one-over par rounds to complete the tournament. He finished with a two-over par, 218.
Axel Ostennson snagged 24
th place. After opening with a one-under par, 71, he finished the last two rounds with identical scores of three-over par, 75. For the tournament, Ostensson posted a five-over par, 221.
Samuel Schiff opened the tournament with a seven-over par, 79, but finished the final 36 holes with a one-over par, 73, and a three-over par, 75. He concluded the event with an 11-over par, 227. Schiff tied for 43
rd.
Rounding out the field for USC Aiken was
August Lindvall, who posted a three-round tally of 12-over par, 228. He started strong with a one-over par, 73, and finished with rounds of 76 and 79.
