MONTEVALLO, Ala.- Three University of South Carolina Aiken student-athletes recorded personal-best times at the NCAA Southeast Regional Saturday morning, which was hosted by Montevallo.
Bethany Fordham,
Brook Thomas and
Kyah Owusu all registered personal-best marks at the final meet of the season.
Sophomore
Bethany Fordham tallied a personal-best time of 24:49.94, which was good enough for 93
rd place at the meet. Fordham wrapped up her second year with the Pacers and has been the front-runner on the squad in all but one meet during her career.
Thomas garnered her top 6k-time by crossing the finish line in 28:24.57. Her time allowed her to place 165
th.
Amanda Bruenio was not far behind Thomas, placing 169
th. She finished the meet in 29:07.17.
Newcomer
Jasmine Hill notched a time of 32:52.68. Her mark was good enough for 174
th place.
Owusu tallied a personal-best time after crossing in 32:57.64. Her effort allowed her to place 175
th.
Leah Jones was one spot behind Owusu, finishing in 35:57.87.
The Pacers return everyone in 2017.
"I'm very proud of all the girls on the team for the hard work and effort they've put in during the season," head coach
Kara Kinard said. "I think many returners have realized what it takes in the offseason in order to improve. We hope that this race is a stepping stone to propel us on to greater things.
"We had a goal to improve our placement from regionals last year and conference this year and we did not meet that goal, but by putting in the miles we should in the offseason, we hope the squad can make choices to do that next season."
