Box Score 2 DUE WEST, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team wasted little time picking up two non-conference victories Saturday afternoon. The Pacers swept Lees-McRae (25-18, 25-20, 25-16) and Erskine (25-17, 25-10, 25-15).
The team improves to 10-4 on the young season.
In the first match of the day, the Pacers defeated Lees-McRae for the second time this season.
Taylor Stratton registered a match-high 14 kills while hitting .667. She did not commit an error in 21 total attacks.
Hannah Tierney reached double figures with 10 kills while hitting .533.
Leah Rodgers contributed eight kills.
Amanda Bologna chipped in four while
Ashley Diedrich had three and Aly Johnson amassed two.
Bologna led everyone with a match-high 28 assists. She also chipped in six digs and two block assists. Stratton posted six digs and two block assists. Tierney totaled two aces and two block assists. In the back row,
Katie Toman accounted for a match-best eight digs. She also added two assists and an ace.
The match took just 76 minutes. For the contest, head coach Glen Cox's team hit an astounding .393, totaling 43 kills and just 10 errors on 83 attacks. The squad had a .571 attack percentage in the opening stanza and a .417 one in the third frame.
Against the host team, the Pacers continued their hot hitting, posting a .324 attack percentage while limiting Erskine to a -.010 attack percentage.
Rodgers hammered home eight kills to lead the victors. Straton continued her stellar day, pounding down six kills without committing a miscue. Diedrich also added six kills while
Shawn Hotson and
Endea Ellison both chipped in five. Ellison amassed a .556 attack percentage.
Bologna notched a double-double with 32 assists and 13 digs. Diedrich accounted for 13 digs while Hotson added 10. Johnson, Toman and
Danielle Mercer had five digs apiece.
At the net, Tierney stuffed two attacks while Diedrich and Stratton each had one.
The match lasted just 70 minutes.
The Pacers return to action Friday when they host Columbus State in a conference contest. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m.
