Box Score MARS HILL, N.C. – The USC Aiken softball team (12-9, 4-4 PBC) fell to the Bears of Mars Hill (12-3, 0-0 SAC) in a single game on Friday, Mar. 12. The Lions took the game 6-2.

Lauren Locklear (Charleston, S.C./Wando) led the Pacers at the plate in the first game going 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs and one RBI.

The Pacers were able to garner the first point of the game when Locklear crossed the plate off a rip to left field by senior slugger Toni Flessate (Goose Creek, S.C./Stratford).

The Pacers were not able to hold on to the lead for long as the Lions went on a six-run streak in the bottom of the third. The Lions were able to claw their way back into the lead with two outs on the board when Ashley Seawell ripped a ball over the center field wall for a two-run home run to begin the Lions' scoring run that would see Mars Hill extend their lead to five at 6-1.

Locklear tried to spur the Pacers into action in the top of the fifth inning when she laced a one-run home run over the left field fence to bring the score to 6-2. Unfortunately the Lions were able to hold on to their lead for the remainder of the game and earn the win.

Mars Hill's Tara West earned the win from the circle by striking out eight batters. She moves to 7-1 on the season.

???????Flessate took the loss for USC Aiken. She falls to 6-3 on the 2010 campaign.

The Pacers were unable to redeem themselves in the second game due to it being cancelled due to rain in the area.

???????USC Aiken's will next game will be within the friendly confines of J.H. Satcher Field when the Pacers will host the Bears of region foe Lenoir-Rhyne for a non-conference double on Tuesday, Mar. 16. The first pitch of the first game is scheduled to be thrown at 3 p.m. with the second game to follow at around 5 p.m.
