Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. - Guided by two players with a double-double, the University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team garnered a 93-77 victory over Glenville State in its first game of the 2009 Lady Jaguar Tip-Off Classic at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The Pacers improved to a perfect 2-0 on the season with the victory, while Glenville State dropped to 0-1 on the year with the loss to the Pacers.
The USC Aiken offense started off strongly with the Pacers jumping out to an early six-point advantage by shooting 62 percent over the opening five minutes. The Pacers held a four-point lead at 14-10 at the first media time out of the contest, but Glenville State then proceeded to go on a 16-4 run over the next few minutes to take a 26-18 lead with just under 10 minutes left in the first half.

Deandra Schirmer (Holton, Kan./Cloud County) pulling the Pacers back to within one on a lay-up with just under four and a half minutes left in the first stanza. On the Pacers next offensive possession, Schirmer made sure to grab the lead back for the Pacers at 32-31 on a mid-range jumper from the right corner.
The Pacers would close out the half by outscoring the Pioneers 20-10 over the final 10 minutes, leaving the Pacers with a two-point 38-36 lead at intermission.
Despite starting off warm from the field, USC Aiken ended the first half shooting 36.7 percent (11-for-30) from the floor. Glenville State was 14-of-37 (37.8 percent) from the field in the first stanza.
Hannah DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack College) led the Pacers in the first half with 14 points and nine total rebounds. DeGraffinreed was 8-for-10 from the charity stripe in the first half.
The Pacers opened the second half by jumping out to an 8-4 run over the first three minutes of the half. The short spurt by the Pacers forced Glenville State head coach Bunky Harkleroad to take a time out at the 16:58 mark of the second half in hopes of subduing the Pacer momentum.
USC Aiken would continue to extend its lead from there with USC Aiken owning a 13-point 56-43 lead with 13:11 left in the contest.
The Pacers would hold a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half en route to its second victory of the 2009-10 season.
???????DeGraffinreed led the Pacers in the contest with her second consecutive double-double. The sophomore transfer ended her evening with 27 points and 16 rebounds. DeGraffinreed was an impressive 8-for-12 from the field and 11-for-14 from the free throw line.
Catherine Cain (Dayton, Ohio/Ohio University) was right behind DeGraffinreed with 19 points on a 7-for-11 shooting performance. Cain had five rebounds in the game.
???????Schirmer was the second Pacer to record a double-double in the contest. Schirmer connected on six of her seven shot attempts in the game to finish with 16 points and 11 rebounds. She obtained six offensive boards in the game.
Nakia Pinkney (Orangeburg, S.C./Orangeburg-Wilkinson) was the final Pacer in double figures with 11 points. She was 6-for-7 from the free throw line in the Pacer win.
USC Aiken warmed back up in the second half by shooting 58.6 percent (17-for-29). The Pacers shot 47.5 percent (28-for-59) from the field in total in the game. Glenville State was held to a 37.8 percent (28-for-74) performance from the floor in the contest.
The Pacers will close out the Lady Jaguar Tip-Off Classic by squaring off against North Greenville at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Christenberry Fieldhouse
