CHARLESTON, S.C. - The USC Aiken women's cross country team turned in an impressive finish on Saturday morning, claiming the runner-up trophy in the college division portion of The Citadel Invitational. Lees-McRae won the team title while Furman took home the crown in the university division. The 5K event was held at the James Island County Park in Charleston, S.C. and hosted by The Citadel.
Lenoir-Rhyne's Genna Eisenmann won the individual race with a time of 19:41.29. USCA Senior
Marcie Milner crossed the line in a time of 20:50.79 to claim fifth place, her second top five finish in five meets this year. As a team, all five of the Lady Pacers' counting scores placed in the top 20.
In the team standings, Lenoir-Rhyne (80) was third behind Lees-McRae (33) and USC Aiken (78), followed by Spartanburg Methodist (81) in fourth, Converse (97) in fifth, and Newberry (110) rounding out the top six.
Senior
Jen Mascarin rebounded from a rough outing last weekend after battling the flu in Hoover, Ala., to run 16th at 22:11.37. Freshman
Jani Linde was just behind Mascarin in 18th with a time of 22:28.37, the first of three-straight Lady Pacers. Sophomores Alley Dachenhaus and
Renea Marshall finished 19th and 20th respectively with times of 22:31.18 and 22:32.27.
Melissa Price and
Mamie Foreman placed 33rd and 34th, separated by less than half of a second at 26:25.32 and 26:25.62.
USC Aiken will next compete on Saturday, October 7 at the Disney Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla.
