HOOVER, Ala. - Led by senior
Marcie Milner's 36th place finish, the USC Aiken Lady Pacers were 16th out of 20 teams at the Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday afternoon. The 5K event was held at Spain Park in Hoover, Ala. Emory University won the event with 32 total points.
Samford's Stephanie Dueringer captured the individual title with a time of 19:00.60, nearly 29 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Amy DiBianca of Emory.
In the team standings, UAB (92) was second, 60 points back of Emory. Mercer (125) came in third followed by Birmingham Southern (151) and Columbus State (177) rounding out the top five.
Milner turned in a time of 21:53.80, less than 17 seconds outside of the top 25 in the impressive field. Freshman
Jani Linde crossed the line in a time of 23:26.60 to finish 86th. Sophomores Alley Dachenhaus and
Renea Marshall placed 105th and 107th respectively, separated by only seven ticks. Dachenhaus' time was 24:24.60 while Marshall clocked in at 24:31.10.
Senior
Jen Mascarin placed 124th at 25:28.10 and
Mamie Foreman was 138th with a time of 28:18.50.
USC Aiken will next compete in The Citadel Invitational on Saturday, September 30 in Charleston, S.C.
