Box Score AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken quickly erased a four run deficit with eight runs in the bottom of the first inning, added 11 more in the fifth and sixth innings combined, and cruised to a 19-8 win over Martin Methodist College today at Roberto Hernandez Stadium, in Aiken, S.C. The Pacers improve to 14-6 overall while the Redhawks drop to 8-13 on the season.

Cliff Hardy's two run double down the left field line in the first inning put the Redhawks in front 3-0. Taylor Bates' run scoring single to center gave the visitors a 4-0 advantage after one-half inning.

Daniel Quartararo's solo home run with one out in the bottom of the first inning began the big frame. Four batters later Patrick Jones added two more to the score with a two-run shot over the right field wall that tied the game. A Robert Davis two-run single capped the inning and gave the Pacers an 8-4 lead.

Martin Methodist drew to within three with a run in the second, but the Redhawks would get no closer. USCA added four in the fifth and put up seven in the sixth for a 19-5 lead. 

Zack Cooper and Quartararo each drove in a pair of runs with singles in the fifth inning. Quartararo went three-for-four on the day with two runs scored and five RBIs. Cooper finished two-for-three with three runs scored and three knocked in.

Bob Hatcher's three run home run over the center field wall highlighted the sixth inning for the Pacers. 

The Redhawks tacked on a run in the seventh on Alan Lindsey's ground out that scored Joey Greany. MMC scored twice in the eighth to set the final score. Miguel Pereyra forced in a run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Phillip Loftin's sacrifice fly capped off the scoring for the game. Lindsey, Greany and Matt

Derek Claussen evened his record on the season at 2-2 by earning the victory. The senior pitched six innings, allowed seven hits, five runs, three walks and struck out four batters. Dale Pierce (0-3) suffered the loss after tossing just two-thirds of an inning and allowing eight runs on five hits.

The Pacers and Redhawks finish off their three-game series on Sunday at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
