Pacers Dominate Lander

Box Score AIKEN, S.C.--Missy Deardorff recorded a career-high tying 14 kills while Jenny Lloyd added 16 kills and 20 digs to lead USC Aiken (17-10, 4-4 PBC) to a 3-0 victory over Lander University (11-15, 2-6 PBC) in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action on Friday night at "The Courthouse". Game scores were 30-19, 30-11, and 30-20. The Lady Pacers sweep the season series for the fourth time in five seasons and improve to 12-2 all-time. 

Deardorff registered her 14 kills on just 20 attacks for an impressive .700 hitting percentage. The freshman from Dumfries, Va. added four blocks for 16.0 points. Deardorff previously rang up 14 kills in a five-game win over Wingate on August 28. 

Lloyd hit .394 with 16 kills, 20 digs, three blocks, and one service ace for a match-high 19.0 points. She extended her Peach Belt Conference record of double-digit kill matches to 84 including 28-straight. Laura Williams and Mandy Gerolstein each chipped in eight kills, combining for seven blocks. Setter Rachel Dalitz had 42 assists. 

Ashley Stathas and Allison Miller each tallied six kills to lead the Lady Bearcats. Christy Plecha recorded five kills to go with a team-best three blocks. Danielle Anderson registered 21 assists. Lander hit -.028 with three service aces and 5.0 blocks. The Lady Pacers hit .387 to go with 11.0 total team blocks and three aces. 

Williams and Lloyd each had five kills in game one as a late 10-1 run sealed the 30-19 win for the Lady Pacers. Holding a slim 20-18 advantage, USCA closed out the game by scoring the final eight points. 

In game two, a pair of decisive runs gave the Lady Pacers the easy 30-11 win. Tied at 5-5, USCA reeled off an 11-1 run including eight in a row to storm in front 16-6. Ahead 20-9, the Lady Pacers put the game away behind a 9-1 spurt. 

In the final game, USCA raced to a 9-2 start and pulled away to the 30-20 victory. 

USC Aiken will host rival USC Upstate (formerly USC Spartanburg) tomorrow at 3:00 PM. Lander will travel across the Savannah River to square off against Augusta State, also at 3:00 PM.
