Box Score AIKEN, SC--Ashley Farr and
Bradley Key each hit home runs in a five-run seventh inning as the USC Aiken Pacers (15-10) rallied from a 4-3 deficit to post the 8-6 win over Lindsey Wilson College (4-9) on Wednesday night in non-conference baseball at J.H. Satcher Field. The teams split the two-game series as the Pacers improve to 15-4 at home.
Jerod Summer tossed 6.1 innings of solid work for the Pacers in the no decision. He held the Blue Raiders scoreless through six innings until trouble arose in the seventh. His final stat line read six hits, four runs, all unearned, three walks and one strikeout.
Wes McColl (4-2) came on in the seventh to get two outs and close out the inning, while
Paul Ferrell worked the final 2.0 innings allowing one earned run on two hits and striking out two.
Clint Keown had a career night for the Pacers. He finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored, two walks, and a school record breaking five stolen bases. He got the Pacers on the board in the third when he drew a two-out walk. After swiping second base,
Farr singled to right field scoring
Keown.
In the sixth,
Keown lead off with a single, stole second, and this time
Chris Sheehan singled through the right side to drive him home.
Sheehan was injured sliding into second base and had to leave the game.
Casey Calhoun replaced him and promptly scored on
Key's two-out RBI single.
Farr went 3-for-5 with two RBI while
Key was 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Trailing 3-0 in the seventh, the Blue Raiders capitalized on four hits and two Pacer errors to push four runs across and claim a 4-3 lead.
Brooks Ewing was 2-for-4 with a home run while
Nick
Drexler also pounded out two hits in four at bats including an RBI double for Lindsey Wilson.
In the bottom of the seventh, USCA scored five runs, all with two outs, coming off the bats of
Farr and
Key. The two-run blast by
Farrwas his sixth of the season while
Key's three-run shot was his fifth.
Ryan Holcomb (0-3) worked 6.2 innings surrendering seven runs, all earned, on eight hits and five walks, striking out two in the loss.
Dustin Anderson finished the seventh and
Teddy Dahlman shut the Pacers out in the eighth.
USC Aiken has one day off before welcoming the nation's second-ranked team in Kennesaw State to town for a key Peach Belt Conference three-game series. Friday night's single game begins at 6:00 PM with the Saturday doubleheader scheduled for a 1:00 PM start time.
