Box Score AIKEN, SC--Having won its last two games in its last at bat, USC Aiken (14-10) tried for the trifecta on Tuesday night falling 15-14 to Lindsey Wilson (4-8) in non-conference baseball action. The Pacers trailed by six entering the ninth inning and were able to plate five with the tying run at second base, but could not complete the come-from-back victory.
The Blue Raiders opened up with six in the first inning, all unearned runs due to two of the Pacers four errors on the night. Starter
Jamie Langford (0-1) lasted just one-third of an inning in his first collegiate start allowing six runs on two hits and two walks. Five more Pacer pitchers worked in the game combining for nine runs, four earned, on 10 hits and six walks.
USCA got within one at 7-6 heading into the top of the fifth with the momentum seemingly having shifted in their favor. But a two-run fifth and five-run sixth pushed the lead back out to 14-6 for Lindsey Wilson.
In the ninth down 15-9,
Tony Hanks led off with a single,
Chris Sheehan reached on an error by the shortstop, and
Mike Cunningham drew a walk to load the bases for
Leroy Walker. He singled to center field scoring
Hanks. After
Adam Strongmanwent down swinging for the first out of the inning,
Sheehan scored on a wild pitch to cut it to 15-11.
Demetrick Drumming reached on an error by the third baseman, scoring
Cunningham and
Walker to slice the margin to 15-13.
Clint Keown stuck out for the second out of the inning.
Ashley Farr, the hero of yesterday's 10-9 win over Southern Indiana, doubled off the wall in center field to plate
Drumming and make it a one run game at 15-14. But
Teddy Dahlman came on in relief of
Jessie Pounds to get
Bradley Keyto fly out to left field to end the game.

Farr each had three hits for the Pacers while
Hanks,
Cunningham, and
Walker tallied two a piece.
Walker drove in a team-high four RBI.
Brandon Dietz led Lindsey Wilson, going just 1-for-4, but the one hit was a grand slam in the first inning that set the tone for the Blue Raiders.
John Myatt went 3-for-5 with four runs scored.
Anthony Loparo (1-0) tossed 7.0 innings scattering eight hits and three walks, allowing eight runs, six earned, and striking out four in the win.
Dahlman (2) notched his second save.
