Box Score AIKEN, SC--USC Aiken's women's soccer team lost to Wingate University, 3-1, tonight in Aiken, S.C. Two goals in a three minute span in the second period by Wingate University put the game away.
The Lady Pacers fell to 8-6-3 on the season, while Wingate improved to 12-3-2.
The two teams played scoreless for the first 39 minutes. Wingate's Morgan Oehmann took a Veronica Acosta pass and beat USCA goalkeeper
Shannon Hobbs from dead center.
The Lady Pacers answered seven minutes into the second period.
Jodi Kulinitch took a pass from
Julie Padgett, and her shot from the left side beat the Bulldog goalie to tie the game at one apiece.
The goal,
Kulinitch's ninth of the season, tied
Jen Mascarin for the team lead.
The teams battled back and forth for the next 12 minutes. Wingate's Julie Law broke the tie at the 66:28 mark with her unassisted goal.
Three minutes later Oehmann notched her second goal of the game and put the game out of reach for the Lady Pacers.
USC Aiken was out shot in the game by the Bulldogs, 10-7.
Kelley Shemansky had three shots to lead the Lady Pacers.
Hobbs played the entire game in goal for USCA. She allowed three goals and had four saves.
The Lady Pacers will close out their regular season schedule on Saturday. They will play Peach Belt Conference team Clayton State at 5:00 p.m. at the "Pacer Pit" on the USCA campus. The game could have a major impact on seeding for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
