GREENWOOD, S.C. - In their first competition under new head coach Beth Wandyes, the USC Aiken women's cross country team placed fifth out of six teams competing Saturday in the Lander Senator Season Opener in Greenwood, SC.
Host Lander capture the title with 36 points. Second through fourth place was separated by only 12 points, led byÂ
Presbyterian, then Catawba and Truett-McConnell. USCA finished with 138 points, finishing ahead of SpartanburgÂ
Methodist.
In their first meet of the 2001 season,Â
Kelly Shemansky represented the Lady Pacers in the top ten, recording a time of 23:02. The winning time for the 5K race was 21:36 by Rebecca Defeo of Catawba.
USCA will compete in the 11th Annual Connie Maxwell Invitational September 8 in Greenwood, SC.
