University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout Alie Smith has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 29, 2017.

Smith, a freshman from St. Johns, Fla., guided the Pacers to a 1-1 week.

The 5-9 outside hitter posted a match-high 11 kills in the sweep at UNC Pembroke. She hit .292 and also had three blocks. Against Flagler, Smith tallied a career and match-high 20 kills. She added 19 digs, two blocks and a pair of aces while registering a career-high 23 points.

Smith was a key cog in the volleyball team’s school-record setting 21-match winning streak.   

The Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week honors one student-athlete each week from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
