AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball standout Alie Smith has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 4, 2017.

Smith, a freshman from St. Johns, Fla., guided the Pacers to a 2-2 week against some of the toughest competition in Division II.

The outside hitter posted a pair of double-double performances, including one against No. 11 Wheeling Jesuit and the other in the win over North Alabama.

Smith recorded double-digit kills in three contests, including a career-high 18 over UNA. She missed a third double-double by one dig and tallied a career-best 14 digs against the Cardinals.
