AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken women's cross country standout Tess
Studley has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Month for October.
Studley, a native of Summerville, S.C., had a tremendous month for USC Aiken.
She competed in a pair of races during October and produced the top time for the team in each race.
At the Royals XC Challenge,
Studley turned in a time of 19:55.59, which marked the fifth-fastest time in school history. At the PBC Championship, she shattered the school record in the 5k with a time of 19:16.4.
Her time was good enough for 22
nd place and was the fourth-best time by a freshman at the race.
In each competition this season,
Studley has been the top performer on the team. This marks the second time she's picked up the accolade this year.
The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2023-24 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
