AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball standout
Emily Trushel has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month for January.
Trushel, a native of Brentwood, Tenn., led the Pacers to a 5-3 month.
It marked the second consecutive month she's picked up the award.
Trushel averaged a team-best 17.3 points per game while pulling down seven rebounds a night.
Trushel connected on 48-of-86 attempts from the floor, including 15-of-24 from the three-point line. She was nearly automatic from the charity stripe, canning 27-of-30.
She dished out 20 assists, had a team-best five blocks and was second on the team with 12 steals during the month.
Trushel poured in a month-high 23 points against nationally-ranked Georgia Southwestern and tied it in the victory over nationally-ranked North Georgia. She had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the victory over Augusta.
The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2022-23 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
