AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men’s soccer standout Kenneth Kalek has been named the Hutson-Etherredge Companies and Auto-Owners Insurance USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6, 2019.

Kalek, a sophomore from Reinbek, Germany, guided the Pacers to a 1-0 week.

The goalkeeper played an outstanding match, helping USC Aiken knock off No. 16 Young Harris by a 3-1 score. It marked the program’s first-ever win over the Mountain Lions.

Kalek stopped a career-high 11 shots in the near-shutout, including multiple attempts from less than 10 yards out. When he wasn’t stopping shots, he was helping snag passes into the box off crosses and corner kicks.

The lone goal he allowed was off a penalty kick with six seconds left in the match.

His outstanding performance helped the Pacers move to 1-0 in PBC play.
