Keith Gorman is in his second year as the Head Baseball Coach at USCA.
During his first year at the helm of the program, Gorman had the team in the top-10 in the NCAA Southeast Region Rankings and among the nation’s best teams. While the team received votes for the majority of the season, the squad ascended as high as No. 22 during the year.
Gorman guided the program to a 36-17 season, including a 20-10 mark in PBC play to go along with a third-place finish in the league standings. He coached nine all-conference performers, shattering the previous school record. Five student-athletes earned first-team recognition while Salvatore Laimo registered all-region honors.
On Opening Day, Gorman’s freshman hurler Ben Shepherd tossed a no-hitter in the second game of the doubleheader sweep against Mars Hill. It’s believed that is the first time a freshman has registered a no-hit bid on Opening Day.
During the first year, he coached two PBC Players of the Week, two PBC Pitchers of the Week and five PBC Freshmen of the Week. For his Opening Day effort, Shepherd earned NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher and NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week accolades.
With over 21 years of experience, Gorman sports a record of 504-224 (.692). At Barton College, he produced a 152-116 (.567) record. Before coaching the Bulldogs, Gorman spent eight years at Cumberland County College, building a powerhouse program that went 316-91 (.776).
Gorman arrived at USCA after three consecutive 30-plus win seasons at Barton. Under his guidance, the Bulldogs shattered the school record for wins (34 in 2024) and posted the highest three-year and two-year win totals in the program’s history.
Gorman’s team produced a 31-22 ledger on the year, including a 19-11 record in Conference Carolinas play for the 2025 campaign, while finishing fifth in the league’s standings. Over the past three seasons, Barton tied for the second-most wins in league play behind only North Greenville.
In 2024, his program started 11-0 and garnered the longest winning streak in program history. The team was ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll for all 15 weeks. The squad was as high as No. 18 in the NCBWA poll and No. 9 in the D2 Baseball rankings after sweeping Mount Olive.
While at Cumberland, Gorman guided the program to the 2019 NJCAA Division III National Championship and was named the National Coach of the Year. His 2017 team finished 55-8, establishing an all-time record for any college in New Jersey. Gorman’s program had more wins from 2014-19 than any other NJCAA school. He led his squad to three trips to the World Series during his eight years at Cumberland.
Gorman, who was also the Director of Athletics and Student Life (2013-19), coached six players who eventually landed professional contracts and 17 players who signed with NCAA Division I institutions. He mentored five All-Americans, three region pitchers of the year and one region player of the year as well.
Gorman also worked at Holy Spirit (N.J.) High School for 10 years (2004-13) and led the baseball team to a 120-54-1 (.690) record over seven seasons. The team won three conference championships and finished a school-best 25-5 in 2011. At the high school, Gorman also served as Assistant Principal of Athletics and Student Activities and Director of Athletics.
Gorman, a native of St. Joseph, Missouri, played at Kansas City (Kan.) CC and North Central (Mo.) College, before earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri and master's degree from LaSalle University. Gorman and his wife, Emily, are the proud parents of three children: Leanna, Ellee and Beau.
