SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USCA men's cross country team opened the season with a ninth-place effort at the Eye Opener, which was hosted by USC Upstate.

Head coach Jim Sprecher's squad was led by Daniel Kiprono's 37^th-place effort in the 8k event. He posted a time of 27:02.4.

Rookie Collins Lagat was not far behind him, crossing the line in 27:28.2. The time was good enough for 46^th place.

Zach Haase notched a time of 27:41.4, allowing him to secure 51^st place at the meet.

Fellow junior Evan McLeod posted a time of 28:48.8. McLeod took 63^rd at the evet. Avery Farthing took 72^nd after notching a time of 29:54.1.

Andrew Towner posted a mark of 31:10.3, which was good enough for 78^th place. Freshman Cameron Clark was 79^th in a time of 31:43.7. David Tarantino secured a time of 35:19.5. 

The Pacers return to action Friday, Sept. 11, when they travel to the Queens City Invitational.
