AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA men's soccer team lost a 2-1 decision to Flagler Wednesday afternoon in a conference contest.
The Pacers are now 1-3 on the season, including 0-2 in PBC play.
Head coach
Nick Sakiewicz's squad trailed 1-0 early after a penalty kick due to a foul in the box. However, the squad quickly countered and knotted the match at 1-1 after a corner kick in the ninth minute.
Carlos Colomer managed to find the back of the net after a scramble, putting the home team on the board.
The Saints took the lead at the 21:55 mark. USCA had a tremendous opportunity moments later after gaining possession in the offensive third, but the squad was unable to convert.
Sean Simoncelli turned away a point-blank shot with just under 11 minutes to go in the half, keeping it a one-goal match.
With three minutes to play in the opening stanza,
Riad Zitouni received the ball just outside the box and rocketed a shot to his left. The keeper managed to narrowly stop the shot.
Simoncelli made two solid saves in the first eight minutes of the second period. Sakiewicz's team posted a shot via the foot of
Abdoulie Jallow at the 57:46 mark, but he missed high.
With just under 10 minutes to play,
Alvaro Corcuera's shot just outside the box was blocked.
Kenny Kwizera Jr., won possession of the ball and launched a shot toward the goal. However, the attempt deflected off the crossbar.
At the 85:41 mark, Colomer's shot was blocked.

th minute was saved. USCA continued pushing forward in the waning seconds, but the team was unable to find the equalizer.
For the match, Colomer recorded a goal. Jallow, Kwizera Jr., and Zitouni all had two shots. Between the pipes, Simoncelli had five saves while playing all 90 minutes.
