GREENWOOD, S.C. – The USCA softball team dropped a 7-2 contest at Lander Saturday afternoon in the series finale.
The Pacers are now 26-24 on the year, including 10-14 in PBC play.
Head coach
Jaclin Poole's team fell behind 3-0 after the third frame. With one down in the fourth,
Lydia Johnson belted a double down the left field line. However, she was left stranded.
The Bearcats pushed across four runs in the fourth inning for a 7-0 advantage.
Kate Newberry recorded a lead-off single on the first pitch of the fifth stanza, but the team was unable to drive her in.
Poole's team got on the board in the sixth frame.
Autumn Fisher led off the inning with a double to the gap in left center field. After back-to-back fly balls,
Madilyn Rouse blasted a two-run round-tripper over the left field wall, slicing the deficit to five, 7-2.
USCA was unable to get another runner on base in the final 1.1 innings.
For the game, Fisher, Johnson, Newberry and Rouse each had hits. Rouse launched a two-run home run while Fisher and Johnson notched doubles. Rouse drove in two.
In the circle,
Claire Radford got the start and tossed 2.2 innings. She had a pair of strikeouts.
Ally Fleming went two-thirds of an inning and posted a strikeout.
Abbie Kegley entered in relief and threw 2.2 innings with five strikeouts.
