Pacers Clinch Series With 8-6 Win

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The USCA baseball team scored at least one run in the first four innings to claim the series finale at Georgia College by an 8-6 score.

The Pacers are now 33-13 on the season, including 19-8 in PBC play.

Head coach Keith Gorman's team jumped on top with two runs in the first and another in the second. Evan Harding led off the frame with a single and hustled to third on a double by Chancellor Jennings. Harding raced home when Yariel Diaz recorded a sacrifice fly in foul territory. Two batters later, Salvatore Laimo's infield single allowed Jennings to score for a 2-0 lead. An inning later, Osmin Melendez walked, took third on a single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jennings.

Up 3-1 in the third, Blake Martin recorded an infield single, but he was erased on a fielder's choice. Maverick Grigsby's base knock put two on. Laimo and Grigsby stole a bag, putting two in scoring position. With the bases loaded, Laimo scored on a wild pitch. Grigsby raced home on a base hit by Melendez. Harding's single to right field drove in Donovan Glisson, extending the margin to five, 6-1.

In the fourth, Laimo reached on a throwing error and went to second on the play. Grigsby roped a single through the left side, driving in Laimo.

Leading 7-5 in the sixth, Martin doubled and scored on a base knock from Laimo. The Bobcats scored a run in the bottom of the frame, making it 8-6.

The Pacers managed to shut down the Bobcats the final three frames for the win.

For the game, Harding had four hits. He also drove in one and scored. Grigsby and Martin had three hits apiece while Laimo notched two hits, two RBI and scored twice. Jennings and Martin had doubles.

On the mound, Brady Dunlop got the start and tossed 4.1 innings of work. He had four strikeouts. Myles Chabi recorded 2.2 innings of work for the win and had a pair of strikeouts. CJ Lincoln notched the save by tossing the final two innings. He also had a strikeout.
