COLUMBUS, Ga. – The USCA softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Columbus State on Saturday by scores of 4-1 and 7-4.

The Pacers are now 25-22 on the season, including 9-12 in PBC play.

Head coach Jaclin Poole's squad put a runner in scoring position in the second inning of the first game. Madilyn Rouse drew a lead-off walk and took second on Kaylee Bolding's sacrifice bunt. However, a fly ball ended the threat.

In the fourth, Autumn Fisher belted a double to right center field. With one down, Rouse drew a walk. A fly ball and a strikeout completed the inning.

USCA struck first with a run in the fifth inning. Johnson pulled a pitch through the left side of the defense and hustled to second on a wild pitch. Mollie Rollings roped a single to center field, allowing Johnson to take third. After Anna Turner was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Alexis Stout entered as a pinch hitter. After looking at a ball, Stout was hit by a pitch, allowing Johnson to trot home for a 1-0 lead.

The Cougars struck for three runs in the bottom of the inning and added an insurance run in the sixth for the 4-1 victory.

For the game, Fisher, Johnson, Rollings and Rouse had hits. Johnson scored while Stout drove in a run.

In the circle, Claire Radford went the distance. She gave up four runs, but only one was earned. Radford had two strikeouts.

Game two saw the Cougars take a 2-0 lead and maintain the advantage until the fourth inning.

Peri Rouillard drew a lead-off walk and was able to trot home when Fisher crushed an 0-1 pitch over the right center field fence, knotting the score at 2-2. Five pitches later, Rouse blasted a shot over the left field wall for a 3-2 advantage.

With one away in the fifth, Rollings registered a double to right field. Turner's single up the middle allowed Rollings to hustle to third. Two batters later, Fisher drew a four-pitch walk. Rouse reached on a fielding error, allowing Rollings to cross home for a 4-3 lead.

CSU scored four runs in the sixth and held on for the 7-4 win.
