AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA softball team split a doubleheader against Augusta on Saturday, falling 4-0 before cruising to a 10-4 win in the final game of the series.
The Pacers are now 25-19 on the season, including 9-9 in PBC play.
Head coach
Jaclin Poole's team fell behind 2-0 in the first inning against the Jaguars.
Autumn Fisher recorded a single to center field and swiped second, but was left stranded. With two outs in the second,
Lydia Johnson singled and went to second on a base knock by
Mollie Rollings. However, a groundout ended the threat.
In the third, Fisher recorded a single to left field and stole second base. She hustled to third on a wild pitch, but the team was not able to push her across home plate.
Rollings singled and hustled to third on an error in the fourth.
Kate Newberry tripled with two down in the fifth and
Chloe Webb made her way to third in the sixth after reaching on an error. USCA left the runners stranded.
For the game, Fisher and Rollings had two hits apiece. Johnson,
Madison Rogers and Newberry all had hits.
In the circle,
Ally Fleming went the distance and had four strikeouts. She allowed four runs, but only one was earned, on nine hits.
Game two saw the Jaguars take an early 1-0 lead but Poole's team responded with nine runs in the bottom of the frame. Fisher recorded a one-out single to right field and scored on Newberry's two-run shot over the left field wall.
Madilyn Rouse singled and
Chloe Webb drew a walk. After a pitching change,
Kaylee Bolding registered an infield single, loading the bags. Johnson roped a base hit to center field, knocking in Rouse. Rollings drew a bases loaded walk while
Cassidy Neves reached on a fielder's choice. An error on the play allowed Johnson and Bolding to cross home.
Peri Rouillard garnered a base hit to first base, which plated Rollings. Fisher singled home Neves before Rouse reached on an error and Rouillard scored on the play for an eight-run cushion, 9-1.
USCA tacked on a run in the fourth on a solo round tripper by Bolding for a 10-1 lead.
The Jaguars plated three runs in the fifth for the final tally.
For the game, Fisher led the way with three hits while Bolding had two. Bolding and Newberry each had home runs. Newberry recorded two RBI. Bolding crossed home twice.

Claire Radford worked five innings and had three strikeouts.
Abbie Kegley worked the final two innings.
