AIKEN, S.C. – Abbie Kegley tossed a no-hitter as the USCA softball team defeated Georgia College & State University 2-1 Friday evening.
The Pacers are now 21-15 on the season, including 5-5 in PBC play.
Head coach
Jaclin Poole's team took an early lead in the second inning. With two down,
Lydia Johnson singled to second base. After stealing second,
Kaylee Bolding's base knock to right field allowed Johnson to score.
Mollie Rollings roped a pitch into center field, plating Bolding for a 2-0 lead.
The Bobcats plated a run in the fourth, but Kegley and the outstanding defense did not allow the visitors to knot the contest.
For the game, Bolding, Johnson, Rollings,
Anna Turner and
Chloe Webb garnered hits. Webb accounted for the team's lone extra-base hit – a double.
In the circle, Kegley picked up her second no-hitter of the season. She had five strikeouts in the complete-game victory while throwing 101 pitches.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. There will be an award ceremony for Dr. Sandra Jordan at 12:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
