ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The USCA softball team swept Claflin Wednesday afternoon by scores of 6-3 and 11-0.
The Pacers are now 17-13 on the season.
Head coach
Jaclin Poole's team trailed 1-0 through the first three innings. In the fourth,
Autumn Fisher singled and took second. After moving to third on a groundout,
Chloe Webb knocked in Fisher on a single to right field. After a
Kaylee Bolding single, Webb scored as
Lydia Johnson reached on an error.
Alexis Stout reached on a wild pitch as Bolding crossed home on the play. Johnson scored on a groundout by
Mollie Rollings for a 4-1 lead.
In the fifth, Fisher rocketed a triple with one down and scored on a sacrifice fly by Newberry for a 5-1 margin.
Up 5-3 in the seventh,
Madilyn Rouse crushed a solo home run for the final tally.
For the game, Fisher posted three hits and scored twice. Rouse posted a solo home run.
In the circle,
Ally Fleming tossed a complete game. She struck out six en route to the victory.
The win also marked Poole's 200th career win.
Game two saw the Pacers take a lead in the top of the first.
Peri Rouillard drew a walk and swiped second. Two batters later, Newberry singled her home. In the second, Rouse tripled and scored on a wild pitch. With one down, Rollings singled and scored on Rouillard's double for a 3-0 lead.
Johnson led off the fourth with a double. She scored on a sacrifice fly from
Gracie Walker for a four-run cushion.
In the fifth, Webb singled and moved to second on a walk to
Lauren Smith. A passed ball put runners in scoring position and Rouse crushed a three-run home run for a 7-0 lead. Johnson singled and swiped second. After taking third, she scored on a single by Rouillard. Fisher knocked in Rouillard and Newberry smacked a two-run round-tripper for the 11-0 final.
For the game, Newberry posted three hits and drove in three. Rouillard, Rouse and Johnson had two hits each. Rouse drove in three and Rouillard had two RBI. All three scored twice each.

Claire Radford tossed a two-hit shutout. She struck out five in the win.
