USCA Sweeps North Greenville

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA softball team swept North Greenville Tuesday afternoon by scores of 6-1 and 5-0.

The Pacers are now 10-8 on the season.

Head coach Jaclin Poole's team jumped on top when Kaylee Bolding belted the first pitch she saw to lead off the second inning over the left field fence. Autumn Fisher rocketed an offering over the center field wall for a 2-0 margin in the third frame.

The Trailblazers plated a run in the fourth to make it 2-1. The score remained the same until the bottom of the fifth when Poole's team made a splash. Fisher led off the frame with a single and took second on Kate Newberry's base knock to right field. Taylor Erb entered as a pinch runner and everyone moved up 60 feet on a walk to Madilyn Rouse.

Cameron Greene entered as a pinch hitter and roped a single to right field, driving in Fisher. Bolding's sacrifice fly allowed Erb to score for a 4-1 edge. Moments later, Chloe Webb blasted a double to right field, knocking in Rouse and Gracie Walker, who entered as a pinch hitter for a five-run cushion.

That was more than enough for Abbie Kegley, who did not allow another run to cross home plate

For the game, Newberry had three hits, including a double. Fisher notched two hits, drove in one and scored twice. Bolding and Webb had two RBI apiece. Bolding and Fisher each smacked round trippers.

In the circle, Kegley went the distance. She gave up one run, which was unearned. Kegley tallied four strikeouts and gave up five hits. She allowed just two walks.

Game two saw the Pacers take an early lead. After Newberry reached on an error, Webb took a pitch and recorded a triple down the right field line for a 1-0 advantage.

USCA added a pair of runs in the third frame. Peri Rouillard singled through the right side of the infield and stole second base. Fisher drew a walk and Newberry doubled down the left field line, knocking in both teammates.

A bases loaded line drive sacrifice fly by Fisher in the fourth extended the score to 4-0. Greene legged out an infield hit in the sixth and later scored on Fisher's base knock up the middle.

For the game, Webb led the way with three hits, including a triple, and had one RBI. Johnson and Rouillard tallied two hits apiece. Fisher and Newberry each drove in two. Newberry had a double.

In the circle, Claire Radford went the distance and had 11 strikeouts in the shutout. She gave up just two hits and two walks.
