USCA Drops Two At UNC Pembroke

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The USCA softball team lost a pair of games at UNC Pembroke Tuesday by scores of 7-2 and 11-3.

The Pacers are now 7-5 on the season.

Head coach Jaclin Poole's team managed to get the lead-off batter on base via a base hit up the middle from Peri Rouillard. However, a double play erased her moments later.

Down 3-0 in the third, Mollie Rollings roped a one-out single into center field. Back-to-back outs ended the threat.

The Braves tacked on two unearned runs in the bottom of the third for a 5-0 advantage.

Trailing 7-0 in the fifth, Poole's team got things going. Madilyn Rouse singled and took third on Kaylee Bolding's double to right center field. Cameron Greene entered as a pinch hitter and promptly delivered a base knock to right field, driving in Rouse and Bolding.

With the score at 7-2, Bolding reached on an error and went to second when Alexis Stout recorded an infield hit. However, the team was unable to push across another run.

For the game, Rouillard had a pair of hits. Bolding registered a double while Greene knocked in two. Bolding and Rouse each crossed home in the contest.

In the circle, Abbie Kegley had four strikeouts in three innings of work. Ally Fleming tossed three frames and had a strikeout.

Game two saw the Braves take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. With one down in the second, Rouse drew a walk and went to second on a groundout. Chloe Webb roped a double to center field, allowing Rouse to race across home plate, making it 2-1.

UNCP scored a run in the second and four in the third for a six-run margin.

Down 8-1 in the fifth, Gracie Walker drew a base on balls and hustled to second on Rouillard's base knock to left field. A passed ball allowed both runners to move up 60 feet. Autumn Fisher promptly belted a double to left field, knocking in Walker and Rouillard.

The Braves plated three RBI in the fifth for the final score.

For the game, Fisher and Webb had doubles. Fisher drove in two and Webb had one RBI. Rouillard, Rouse and Walker all scored.

In the circle, Claire Radford tossed 2.2 frames and had three strikeouts. Ally Fleming worked 1.2 innings and had a strikeout.

The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they host Newberry for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
