USCA Dominates Lenoir-Rhyne In Doubleheader Sweep

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA softball team picked up a pair of wins over Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, winning 3-0 and 10-5.

The Pacers are now 7-3 on the season.

Head coach Jaclin Poole's team jumped on top with a solo homer by Kaylee Bolding in the second inning.

USCA tried to tack onto the lead in the third and fourth, but singles by Peri Rouillard and Madilyn Rouse were not enough.

In the fifth, Anna Turner singled as did Autumn Fisher, but the two were left stranded. With one down in the sixth, Cameron Greene drew a pinch hit walk. Taylor Erb entered as a pinch runner and swiped second. Erb later scored on a throwing error by the catcher for a two-run margin. Turner singled home Bolding for a 3-0 lead.

Abbie Kegley went back into the circle and completed the impressive shutout. She picked up 10 strikeouts and allowed just one extra-base hit in the victory.  

For the game, Turner led the way with two hits. Fisher, Bolding, Rouse and Rouillard all had a hit. Bolding scored twice and Erb crossed home once.

Game two saw the Bears take an early 2-0 lead. However, Poole's team made a splash in the third frame. Rouillard singled to left field. After a walk to Lydia Johnson, Fisher smacked a three-run shot. Kate Newberry walked and Erb entered as a pinch runner. Two batters later, Bolding crushed a two-run shot for a 5-3 advantage. Chloe Webb rocketed a double to left center and scored on a base knock by Mollie Rollings, extended the margin to three.

Newberry launched a two-run shot in the fourth, driving in Johnson. Up 8-5 in the sixth, Rouillard bunted for a hit. Fisher recorded a two-run shot for a 10-5 lead.

For the game, Fisher led the way with three hits, including two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored. Newberry and Rouillard had two hits apiece. Bolding and Newberry drove in two apiece. Johnson and Rouillard each crossed home twice.   

In the circle, Ally Fleming worked 6.1 innings of relief and had six strikeouts en route to the victory.
