AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over Augusta Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 12-3 on the season, including 4-1 in PBC play. The Jaguars stand at 5-11 overall and 3-2 against conference foes.
Head coach
Glenn Cox's team was paced by
Alli Bishop's 13 kills.
Lexi Rogers added nine kills while
Bailey Corrigan notched eight kills.
Chloe Duzenack chipped in seven kills while
Avery Pearson and
Olivia Miller had five and four, respectively.
Rusne Radaviciute and
Madison Fox contributed two kills and one kill, respectively.
Olivia Moffett dished out 23 assists and had five digs while Fox totaled 19 assists and seven digs.
Defensively,
Kira Bostick posted 17 digs. Rogers added 14 while Corrigan totaled 10. At the net, Pearson was in on three blocks while Bishop and Miller were in on two each.
Down 10-8 in the first set, two errors by the Jaguars knotted the score before Bishop hammered home a pass from Bostick. Leading 17-14, Rogers slammed home a kill. An error by the Jaguars and an ace by Rogers forced a time-out. After the break, Corrigan found the court for a kill before Rogers served up an ace. Moments later, Bostick's ace ended the frame at 25-15.
Down 8-7 in the second stanza, Miller, Duzenack and Corrigan all posted kills. Trailing 14-12, Bishop had a kill and
Ella Hukel recorded an ace en route to a 15-14 edge. The back-and-forth affair saw the visitors lead 18-17 before a service error provided USCA with a side-out. Three straight Jaguar errors and a kill from Corrigan pushed the margin to 22-18. Tied at 24-24, Duzenack and Bishop posted back-to-back kills.
After having match point at 25-24 in the third set, the Jaguars rattled off three straight points to force the fourth set.
Cox's team trailed 8-2 before slowly getting back into the set. Down 14-12, two errors knotted the score. With the score at 16-14, Rogers started a 4-0 run with a kill. Duzenack also added a kill during the spurt. Tied at 21-21, Radaviciute posted a kill. Pearson added a point before Bishop and Pearson combined for a block. Two plays later, a service error by AU made it 25-22.
For the match, USCA had 49 kills while hitting .180. The team had 57 digs and served up eight aces.
