Pacers Fall To Saints In PBC Contest

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision to Flagler Friday evening in a league contest.

The Pacers are now 12-4 on the season, including 4-2 in PBC play. The Saints stand at 17-2 overall, including 6-0 in league competition. 

Head coach Glenn Cox's team was guided by Alli Bishop's seven kills. Bailey Corrigan and Chloe Duzenack had six kills apiece. Olivia Miller notched five kills while Rusne Radaviciute had three kills. Lexi Rogers added two while Madison Fox and Avery Pearson had a kill each.

Fox dished out 12 assists and had five digs while Olivia Moffett totaled 10 assists and nine digs.

Defensively, Kira Bostick led the team with 10 digs. Corrigan and Fox chipped in five apiece. At the net, Duzenack, Miller and Pearson had four blocks each. Bishop was in on two blocks.

Trailing 9-5 in the opening set, Duzenack took a pass from Moffett for the kill. After a miscue by the Saints, Corrigan notched a point, making it a one-point contest. After a run by Flagler, an error made it 17-9. However, the Saints managed to take the first frame 25-13.

Down 5-2 in the second stanza, Moffett notched a kill before Duzenack and Miller combined for a block. Facing a 20-13 deficit, Corrigan started a run with a kill. Two plays later, Pearson added a point for the home squad. Trailing 21-17, Corrigan notched a point. On the ensuing play, Pearson stuffed an attack. Flagler held a 24-19 lead before two points from the Pacers, but the visitors prevailed 25-21.

Flagler led 12-3 in the third set, but Cox's team battled back. Duzenack started a 3-0 spurt with a kill. She and Miller were in on a block before Miller's kill made it 12-6.

Facing a 15-8 deficit, Duzenack started a 4-0 spurt. Bishop and Pearson combined for a block before Bishop added a point. Fox's ace made it 15-12. Trailing 21-16, Miller registered a kill. Two plays later, Duzenack slammed home a kill. Radaviciute notched a point. Duzenack tied the set with a kill off a pass from Moffett. On the ensuing play, Duzenack and Miller combined for a block. However, the Saints scored the final four points for the 25-22 victory. 

For the match, USCA totaled 31 kills and accounted for 41 digs.
