USCA Sweeps Middle Georgia

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team picked up the 3-0 sweep over Middle Georgia Friday evening in a league contest.

The Pacers are now 11-3 on the season, including 3-1 against conference foes.

Head coach Glenn Cox's team was paced by Alli Bishop and Chloe Duzenack as each had eight kills. Olivia Miller and Lexi Rogers had seven kills apiece. Miller notched a .500 attack percentage. Bailey Corrigan, Sophie Barnes and Avery Pearson had two kills apiece while Rusne Radaviciute had a kill. 

Olivia Moffett totaled 17 assists while Madison Fox dished out 14 assists. Bishop and Miller led the defense with five blocks apiece while Pearson combined for four blocks. Kira Bostick led the way with 16 digs. 

Down 3-2 in the first set, Rogers got things going with a kill. Two plays later, Miller hammered home a kill. Rogers completed the run with a point off a pass from Fox. Up 8-7, Duzenack started a spurt with a kill. After two miscues, Miller registered a point for a 12-7 edge. Up 13-10, Miller started another run, which put the score at 24-10.  During the spurt, Bostick had a pair of aces. Two plays later, Pearson slammed home a kill off a pass from Moffett.

Tied at 9-9 in the second frame, Duzenack sparked an 8-1 run with a kill. Fox had an ace while Bishop notched two kills. Pearson and Rogers each had a point. Up 21-14, Rogers found the court for a kill. Corrigan and Miller combined for a block before an error gave the Pacers a 25-14 win.

With the score tied at 10 in the third stanza, Duzenack sliced the defense for a point. Bostick registered three consecutive aces for a 14-10 margin. Up 15-12, Bishop tallied a kill. Rogers notched two kills before an error made it 19-12. With the score at 21-14, Bishop and Barnes had kills. Moffet served up an ace before Barnes concluded the match with a kill. 

For the match, USCA tallied 37 kills and eight aces. The squad totaled nine blocks and 34 assists to go along with 43 digs. Cox's team hit .271 while limiting the opposition to a hitting percentage of -.066.
