USCA Falls To Georgia Southwestern

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA men's basketball team lost a 92-76 decision to Georgia Southwestern Wednesday evening.

The Pacers are now 9-9 on the season, including 4-6 in PBC play.

Head coach Mark Vanderslice's team was led by McCaskill Rivers' 22 points and nine rebounds. Jonah Lawrence added 16 points while Caleb Byrd totaled 14 points. Josiah Harding chipped in 12 markers.

Montraivis White accounted for eight points. Jackson Roberts totaled two points. Chedlet Delva and Deandre Smart had a point apiece. Delva grabbed five rebounds.

Down 12-0, Roberts and Harding hit shots. Lawrence made a free throw to make it 12-5. Trailing 18-11, Lawrence hit a lay-up and Byrd made two charity tosses, pulling the team within three, 18-15. A three-ball from Byrd sliced the deficit to two, 24-22, at the 8:55 mark. Harding's lay-up made it 35-27 at the 6:12 mark.

The Hurricanes held a 48-30 lead before White nailed a pair of three-point buckets, but the Hurricanes led 53-36 at the break.

Down 75-52, Smart hit a free throw. Rivers nailed a jumper before Harding made two charity tosses. Harding's three-ball sliced the deficit to 77-60. Facing an 87-71 deficit, White connected on a field goal. Rivers converted a three-point play, making it 87-76 with 1:53 to go. However, that was as close as the team could get the rest of the way.     

For the game, USCA hit 25-of-63 from the floor, including eight-of-23 from downtown. The team connected on 18-of-24 from the charity stripe. The Pacers grabbed 35 rebounds, including 19 on the offensive glass. The squad tallied six steals and netted 32 points in the lane. Vanderslice's squad accounted for 21 second-chance points.
